Iron deficiency anemia

Iron deficiency anemia affects a large percentage of women and without medical monitoring can lead to many serious problems.

When someone suffers from iron deficiency anemia, their body does not have enough oxygen and they may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

Dizziness, easily fatigued, shortness of breath during exercise, tachycardia, gastritis, headache, tinnitus as well as bronchial discomfort, hair loss, sore or smooth tongue, cracking at the corner of the mouth (angular labialis), altered taste, with cravings for ice, sour drinks etc., cold feet, and hands.

In addition, nail brittleness and spoon-shaped nails, painful dysphagia, feeding disorders, heavy menstrual bleeding and menstrual disorders, fertility problems, vitamin B deficiency which can lead to psychiatric disorders and stress.

Our Center has been screening women for iron deficiency anemia for 4 years, as most women who visit us are tired, distressed and come with weighted medical histories, multiple or difficult deliveries, poor feeding, bleeding or no iron supplementation.

When women bleed, they develop iron deficiency anemia, and when they become anemic, they bleed more often, creating a vicious cycle that absolutely must be broken.

"Most of the women we examined had mild to very severe anemia, which we managed to combat, thus improving their quality of life," says the midwife at our center.
