Hope in an unexpected pregnancy

At EIE, we support women and their partners through unexpected pregnancies by offering counseling, education, medical care, and comprehensive support. We also provide counseling to women who have chosen to have an abortion.

Anna* and her husband arrived in Greece 10 months ago as economic migrants, hoping to eventually move to Northern Europe for a better life. They lived in a basement apartment with their 2-year-old daughter, in poor conditions with only a couch and lacking basic appliances like a refrigerator. Both parents were desperate and felt that abortion was the only "reasonable solution." However, Anna was particularly devastated by the idea.

We discussed the pros and cons of each option and explained how we could support them, encouraging them to take their time before making a decision. They agreed to visit our gynecologist for a first checkup. As we left their home, Anna tearfully expressed her relief and calmness. After much thought, they decided to keep their baby.

Support in Action

We quickly organized a candle-making workshop, where Anna and our team created scented candles to sell at fundraising bazaars. All proceeds were donated to support her family.

Additionally, we helped Anna find a job at a fashion products store and donated furniture, household appliances, and baby clothes to them. Our goal is to continue supporting Anna's family, as we promised her at our first meeting, where hope for a better future was born!
